Privacy Policy
Information pursuant to Article 13 of Legislative Decree 196/2003 and Privacy Policy
Wecity S.r.l., a limited liability company under Italian law with registered office at Via Contrada 309 in Modena and VAT number 03475130369 (hereinafter “Wecity”), pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/2003, is the Data Controller of the data collected in the course of its activities, as specified below.
The “Privacy Policy” described below, i.e., the practice we adopt in the Processing of personal data, aims to explain how Wecity collects and uses certain personal information that may concern you and the rights and options that, in relation to this, you can exercise: it is an integral part of the Terms of Use (hereinafter “Terms”) and is fully reported on the website www.wecity.it (hereinafter the “Site”).
Attention: by using the mobile application named “wecity” (hereinafter the “App”) as well as the website (hereinafter, Site and App are collectively referred to as the “Services”), i.e., by registering and accessing the Site, installing, using the App on your devices, and, in general, using the Services or participating in initiatives of Wecity or related to its activities, you are considered to have given your consent to the Processing, the full acceptance of the “Privacy Policy” and its subsequent modifications.
The personal data provided are subject to electronic and/or manual processing, which in any case are always carried out in compliance with the security and data protection measures provided by law and solely for the purposes described below.
As per Communication No. 102322 sent to confirm the notification made by the Data Protection Authority, Wecity has, in compliance with the regulations, filed a notification for the processing carried out in the course of its activities that involve:
- Georeferencing, i.e., the collection of data that indicates the geographical position of people or objects through an electronic communication network;
- Profiling, i.e., processing carried out with the aid of electronic tools aimed at defining the profile or personality of the data subject, or at analyzing habits or consumption choices, or at monitoring the use of electronic communication services with the exclusion of technically indispensable processing for providing the same services.
The list of Data Processors appointed for the processing of personal data is available at the registered office of Wecity S.r.l.
Personal Data of the Data Subject
At the time of registration on the Site or installation of the App on your device, Wecity will ask you to provide certain personal and contact data, indicating which data is mandatory to allow authentication, access to the Services, and their use. Consent must be given in writing only where the data provided can be qualified as sensitive.
Wecity may carry out a check on the information provided: if false, incorrect, or not updated, this could result in the deletion – after notification – of your account, make access to the Services or their correct use impossible.
The username or nickname you choose will be used to identify you during Authentication and use of the Services and will be associated with every piece of information you provide and choose to make visible or not to other Users.
Any further information, such as the amount of CO2 saved to the environment, the points accumulated, the amount of CO2 offered for the purchase of goods or the enjoyment of services made available by Wecity partners, your nickname, photo/avatar, personal data, email and phone number, etc., may be used and shared with other Users during the use of the Application, published on the Site, and also from here be made accessible to other Users. However, apart from your nickname, the amount of CO2 saved to the environment, and the amount of CO2 offered for the use of a means that remain necessarily public, any other information can be made private by you at any time, it is your choice.
Wecity cares greatly about its Users and their privacy, but since it does not have control over the behavior of others, it cannot assume any responsibility in this regard. You are encouraged to consider carefully and consciously the data and information you decide to make public and to carefully consider every communication and contact you decide to undertake with other Users, especially if unknown.
Offering or participating in any “Strappo” or other activities offered by other Users directly or indirectly through the communication channels provided by Wecity is entirely your choice and any consequences cannot be attributed to Wecity, which can in no case be considered a party or intermediary of any agreement that may arise between Users.
Each User is solely responsible for complying with applicable laws, obligations, or regulations (for example, regarding the homologation, maintenance, and inspection of the means with which they intend to offer a Strappo or compliance with mandatory insurance regulations): Wecity assumes no responsibility for any loss, damage, cost, or expense that may arise to you as a result of or in connection with participation in any activity or event initiated, conducted, or organized by Wecity or a “Strappo” offered by any User or third party, nor in relation to any agreement between Users and/or third parties including any activities or events connected in any way, directly or indirectly, with the use of Wecity’s Services.
Information on the Georeferencing of Users
Wecity allows you to share a “Strappo” by identifying georeferenced routes – with other Users: the use of multiple mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, or others) on which the Application is installed, enables Wecity to collect data and information about your and your travel companions’ location and the route that you, alone or together with other Users, will travel using smart modes (e.g., carpooling) or otherwise environmentally friendly means (public transport, bicycle, etc.). Data related to the movements made and their modality remain confidential to other Users who are not traveling with you, but can be used by Wecity, also in aggregated and anonymized form for research and statistical purposes, as well as for the other purposes stated in this Privacy Policy.
The main purpose of Wecity is to use this information to collect important data regarding smart mobility and the amount of CO2 that can be saved to the environment with it. The anonymous aggregation and study of these data will make it possible to conduct scientific research that would otherwise be difficult to carry out: for this reason, Wecity is grateful to you and will give you the opportunity, in exchange for the mobility data collected with the use of the Services and the cession of the CO2 that is certified to have been saved to the environment with the use of Wecity, to participate in special promotions made available by sponsors and partner companies, to try for free, and for periods of time determined from time to time, smart and environmentally friendly means.
By adhering to the Services, you therefore authorize Wecity to use without limits and indefinitely the information collected related to your and your travel companions’ location and the related routes, without making them public but on the contrary using them mainly to create anonymous and aggregated databases and use them in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
You can anonymize your profile at any time through the settings available on the website or in the application. In this case, most of the details you provided will not be displayed. If you have chosen to integrate the Services with social networks, the possibility of being anonymous might be reset at each reactivation of the application.
Attention: when sharing information about the offered Strappo, obviously Wecity is not able to make it anonymous; however, during its execution, your position, that of other Users traveling with you, and information about the route while it is being carried out will be monitored by Wecity, but made available exclusively to you and your travel companions.
Username and Password
To access, you will always need to use the username and password with which you registered. With the advancement of technology, additional or different means of identification and authentication for accessing the Services or for accessing certain functions or designated sections of the Services may also be established and required.
Maintaining the confidentiality of your authentication data is your responsibility. You are fully responsible for any use or misuse of your account and personal data that may result from disclosing your authentication data to someone else. Ensure that you adopt virtuous behaviors in this regard, for example, never choosing simple passwords made up of only numbers or words, and remember to change your password frequently and at least once every six months.
Use of Aggregated Information
Wecity may use anonymous, statistical or aggregated information to properly operate the Services, to improve their quality or your experience, to create new services and features, including personalized services, to modify or cancel existing content or services also for commercial and statistical purposes. Wecity may also use them by sending, disseminating, transmitting or otherwise communicating or making such information available to the Users of the services, the providers of said services, partners, and other entities.
Information Security
Wecity considers the security of information an absolute priority. Wecity requires that its developers and the hosting providers it uses implement systems, applications, and procedures to protect your personal data, to minimize the risks of theft, damage, loss of information, unauthorized access or use of information, in compliance with what Italian legislation imposes: in fact, the servers on which said information resides are located in an Italian server farm and the company that manages it has been designated as Responsible for the processing of personal data.
While doing everything to ensure compliance with the above, of course, Wecity cannot guarantee, and it is not reasonably expected, that the databases are immune from any malfunction, illicit interception, access or other types of abuse or misuse and therefore cannot assume any responsibility: in case of any malfunction or unauthorized access it will do everything to restore the situation and ensure that any illegal behaviors are prosecuted by the competent Authorities.
Data Retention, Deletion, and Opt-Out Policy
If you believe that the information on your account is not accurate, complete, or up-to-date, you are required to make all necessary changes to correct it and where you are not able to intervene in this regard, you can ask Wecity to do so. Please note that false, incorrect, or outdated information can prevent registration and reduce Wecity’s ability to provide the Services.
You may, at any time, exercise the rights provided for by Article 7 of Legislative Decree 196/2003, by writing a simple letter, registered mail to Wecity’s registered office at Via Contrada 309 in Modena, or an email to privacy@wecity.it.
Uninstalling the Application constitutes an explicit choice to opt out regarding this Privacy Policy, if you wish that all your personal data collected by Wecity (apart from those now made anonymous and aggregated into databases) be deleted, you will have to explicitly request their deletion also from the Site, pursuant to Article 7 of Legislative Decree 196/2003. Following the uninstallation, Wecity will no longer be able to collect any further georeferencing information about you, nor therefore data related to your location and your routes.
Changes to the Privacy Policy
Wecity may modify the terms of this Privacy Policy. Substantial changes will take effect 30 days after the publication of a notification on the homepage of the website and/or direct communication to registered Users. Other changes will take effect seven days after their initial publication on the website. If Wecity modifies the Privacy Policy to comply with legal requirements, the changes will become effective immediately upon their initial publication or as required by law.
The use of the Services after the communication of the changes will in any case imply acceptance by conclusive behavior. If you do not agree with any of the modified conditions, you must avoid any further use of the Services and are invited to cancel your registration.

Use of Cookies
Wecity may use cookies on the Services it provides: these are files used to facilitate the communication of packets of information between the server where the Services reside and your web browser or the App at each access; they can determine if access to the Services has already been made: this allows recording your preferences and obtaining a browsing experience in line with them, more comfortable and easier to use.
Some cookies expire at the end of the session, other cookies are saved on the storage system of your device. If you want to block cookies, use the help button in your browser and follow the necessary instructions; it is also possible to delete any cookies already present on the hard disk at any time. However, disabling or deleting cookies can complicate or even prevent the use of the website, or some of its functions.
Cookies help us to establish which are the most popular sections of our site and may contain a series of information, such as the content of search queries, the pages of the site you have visited, the duration of the session, and the IP addresses of the devices from which you connect; they can serve to prevent you from re-entering the username and password every time you access, to facilitate the use of the website, to collect statistical information, to verify the information and customize your experience according to your preferences and for information security purposes.
